Faculty of Polish Studies of the University of Warsaw is honoured to invite you to the third edition of “Polish Sign Language” Postgraduate Studies (2013-2014).
They are the only university studies of this kind in Poland.
The main aims of the studies are to give both theoretical and practical basis for the future lecturers and interpreters of Polish Sign Language (PJM), to broaden the knowledge of PJM’s vocabulary and grammar, as well as to develop practical skills in the area of the communication of people with hearing deficit. The course embraces, among others, the following classes: “Knowledge about language”, „ Teaching Polish language as a foreign language”, „World’s sign languages”, „PJM Interpreter’s craft”, “History and culture of the Deaf”, “Grammatical and lexical description of PJM”, as well as sign language workshops.

Postgraduate PJM Studies meet the expectations not only of those working with the Deaf but of hearing people and the Deaf themselves. Lectures and majority of classes are taught in Polish (among others, by the members of PLM). All of them are rendered into PJM.

The studies are held externally (Saturday-Sunday sessions).
